Teenage Skin Problems & How To Deal With Them

Teenagers go through a lot of skin changes and transformations when they hit puberty. With all the hormonal changes their bodies are undergoing, it is common for teenagers to face many skin problems that could be so frustrating it could want to make them jump out of their skin. The teenage period for exploration, fun, excitement, and a carefree life also commonly features the usual skin complaints like acne, blackheads, and pimples. So we understand when we say that a teenager’s life isn’t easy and it could be tough on their skin as well.
Below are some tips to help teens keep their skin young and healthy.
Cleanse More, Stress Less
For those with regular skin that inherently has a balanced amount of oil and water content, wash your face at least twice a day with a mild, nourishing cleanser. For those with dry skin, give your face a gentle scrub with a cleanser at least once every day. If your skin is oily, wash your face at least three times a day with body soap and water. A cleansing pad also works wonders for oiliness. In case you see a pimple on your face the next day, don’t stress over it because stress and hormonal imbalance only make things worse.
Remove Makeup Before Hitting The Bed
You are going to sleep, not on a date lol. Keep your makeup minimal and do not forget to remove it using cleansing milk before you go to bed. One of the simplest yet most effective beauty tips for teens. If you make a regular habit of sleeping in makeup, you can have an acne breakout or develop a bumpy rash called perioral or periocular dermatitis.
Choose Your Skin Care Product Wisely
Cosmetics like foundation, blush, and moisturizer should be oil-free. Choose products that do not promote the formation of blemishes or cause blocked pores. Knowing your skin type gives you the opportunity to discover which products work best for you and which ones you should steer clear of. Ask a dermatologist or qualified salesperson which skin products are best for your skin type.
DON’T POP A Pimple
If you pick, squeeze, or pinch blemishes, you risk developing acne scars. Don’t rub or touch pimples. Use the appropriate treatment for face spots and pimples to avoid having permanent spots. Acne is best treated naturally. Use garlic juice on the problem areas and allow its antibacterial properties to work their magic.
DON’T Share Makeup Equipment
Makeup isn’t meant to be a personal property. However, teenagers are fond of sharing makeup with their friends. Sharing makeup materials like brushes and touch pads can easily lead to face infections.
Eat Healthy
Teenagers have the habit of eating less nutritious foods more often. They think it’s okay, going after whatever seems tasty to them. But good skin care comes with a healthy, balanced diet combined with the right eating times and amounts. The diet should include lots of vegetables, proteins, and vitamins.
Exercise & Sleep Well
Exercise and a good amount of sleep is essential for a good skin and proper health in general. Always exercise frequently and sleep well. The more the skin is relaxed, the more the eyes are relaxed, and the lesser the risk of premature aging and dark circles at an early age.
Proper Water Consumption
Water is life, especially to the skin, so make it a point to drink lots of water each day. Drinking the right levels of water will help you keep your body and skin hydrated. It will also clean your body inside out and keep you free of acne, blemishes, and other skin issues. Ultimately, water helps your skin glow, shine, and become more soft and supple.
Consult A Doctor
You are in your teenage years, and during this period, your body will undergo notable changes, some of which can be difficult to handle and understand. Don’t just keep experimenting with different skin products to find out what suits you best. Instead, see a dermatologist when you think you can’t handle a situation.
Being a teenager should be fun and exciting, but skin problems can pose a threat to health and well-being. Take charge of your well-being by drinking lots of water and nourish your body with plenty of exercise and healthy food. Follow a simple but thorough skin care routine and your skin will forever be ageless.
