Grab A Bite With Me, FLOTUS?

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

It wasn’t just Gu Gu who was looking to make a new American acquaintance on the FLOTUS’ visit to their enclosure. Meng’er, the giant panda, was also looking to snag the gorgeous 47-year-old’s attention all to himself (talk about speed dating…). Unfortunately, he couldn’t quite put down his food long enough to challenge the competition. Whatever’s the case, food is better than medicine. Better a quick brunch than a visit to the animal hospital, right?

I’m Really Just As Cute…

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

Meng’er probably had as good a chance as Gu Gu had with Melania. But his overactive appetite perhaps needed just a little curbing. In Mandarin, Meng’er name translates “Cute No. 2” – suggesting that he was named with a cute No. 1 in view. Nonetheless, the giant panda still warmed a few hearts, and provided he doesn’t eat enough to require a structured diet and weight loss, Meng’er is always welcome to be our second favorite. Of course, the no. 1 spot is still owned by Gu Gu, and we are sure Melania agrees.

One Miniature Gu Gu For The Road

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

Goodbyes are tough, and that was why when the FLOTUS got set to leave the Beijing Zoo after her memorable visit to the pandas, the director of the zoo offered her a panda plushy. It’s a perfectly-sized miniature Gu Gu to take with her on all her travels – and as a plus, you’ll never need to take him to the animal clinic or spend money on animal hospital bills. Who says a long distance relationship won’t work if you try?

Lights, Camera, Gu Gu!

And once again, the FLOTUS and Gu Gu were in a picture together – only this time, there was no photobombing necessary, and it was a mini Gu Gu who took the place of the beloved panda. The US First Lady gamely posed with the director of the Beijing Zoo in Beijing, China and the panda toy gifted to her. Plushies like these sure make fascinating emotional support animals.

A Heartfelt Note From The FLOTUS

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

Melania and Gu Gu’s story wouldn’t be complete without a heartfelt note to seal their meeting. And if the giant panda was ever unsure about whether or not the First Lady likes him as much as he does her – the question was easily answered by her words on the giant panda print that eventually made it into journalist Kate Benneth’s tweet.

Unraveling The Mystery Of Gu Gu

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

Gu Gu is, no doubt, the pride, and joy of the Beijing Zoo. The giant panda was said to be born in 1999 – and is not merely a magnificent-looking animal, but an intelligent one with a retentive memory. Well, that may mean that he has less frequent visits to the animal clinic. Li Xiaoguang, the Zoo’s director, dubbed him as a goodwill ambassador of the zoo – in the light of which it is easy to see the attraction between him and the First Lady.

 Gu Gu’s Goodbye

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

It was only a matter of time until Melania Trump had to say goodbye after her visit to the Beijing Zoo’s panda enclosure. The FLOTUS certainly looked unperturbed – perhaps the result of her exceptional skin care products that seamlessly hide her worry lines. But if Gu Gu could protest, we bet he would. Goodbyes are tough after all.

A Bald Eagle For A Giant Panda

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

The First Lady’s visit to the Beijing Zoo was once more highlighted by her presentation of cotton-stuffed eagle toys to the children who welcomed her to the panda enclosure. She gave the children the toys, and she let them know that while in China the symbolic animals are the giant pandas, in the US it’s the bald eagle. Cute and educational; what’s more to ask for from a gift?

What Is Not To Love?

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

The Chinese kids were beyond ecstatic after receiving their stuffed toys. Shortly after, they posed in front of the panda enclosure for a picture with the US First Lady.  Kids are so easy to please. It would probably take up to a year’s supply of skin care products or anti-aging products to impress adults and have them look this excited.

Expert Innocence

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

The Chinese kids were eager to show her around – after all, the zoo is often kids’ turf plus, they love their stuffed bald eagle. First stop was the enclosure of Meng’er, who seemed much too engrossed in his meal to try to impress. Behavior like that might keep him away from the animal clinic or animal hospital, but it surely won’t land him a visit to the US White House. Gu Gu is clearly a much smarter panda.

\\n\",\"\\n

Here’s What Is Worth Seeing…

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

There was a lot to see, and the kids were glad to take the lead – showing the First Lady multiple enclosures and the various activities and usual behavioral patterns of the pandas in the Beijing Zoo. They appeared to be emotional support animals, quite willing to take a little petting and very easy to please. If you get lucky in dating services, why not have your first date in the zoo – where pandas are around?

A Gentleman For The FLOTUS Alone…

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

It turns out that the famous Gu Gu wasn’t always so well behaved. In the past, the giant panda was a headliner for frequently attacking visitors that carelessly stumbled on his enclosure. It is unclear if he is merely territorial or just easily offended – but the FLOTUS couldn’t stay too mad at the 17-year-old zoo star. Plus, getting into fights may have landed him in the animal clinic as well – he certainly learned his lesson there.

But there are a few more secrets that the beloved Gu Gu keeps under wraps – Like what the FLOTUS has discovered Next!

More To Love

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

While Meng’er and Gu Gu were the highlights of the day, they weren’t the only residents of the Beijing Zoo panda enclosure. In fact, the zoo boasts eight giant pandas – two of which are twins. But then, Gu Gu is undoubtedly the star. The zoo director explained the pandas’ significance, stating that some of them date as far back as President Nixon’s tenure and a few of them would make excellent emotional support animals. But seeing as Gu Gu wanted the FLOTUS all to himself, he may not have been eager to share details of his equally cute family with her.

The Name “Gu Gu”

\\n

\\\"\\\"

\\n

While the name Gu Gu seems like something shrouded in mystery, that name neither has a particular meaning nor does it have an origin. It merely seemed like the perfect name for the beloved giant panda because it featured syllables in a repeated format which is often used to make names sound lovable and catchy in China. Well, ‘Gu Gu’ may also actually sound like some kind of a hair treatment in certain Asian countries (though spelled differently).

Wine & Dine

\\\"\\\"

The trip wouldn’t have fully begun without first grabbing a bite after the Trumps’ arrival. And in typical fashion, President Xi Jinping had organized a state dinner located at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, in honor of their American friends. A broad range of Chinese and international cuisine was there for the taking. President Trump and the FLOTUS eagerly attended the dinner, excited to partake of the rich culture. We’re sure that diet and weight loss are the last things on Melania’s mind as she helped herself to the sumptuous meal.\",\"

Presidential Crash Course In Chinese Cuisine

On her visit to the Banchang primary school in Beijing, the  FLOTUS participated in a cooking class along with fellow First Lady, Madame Peng. That is probably the secret to her flawless skin. \",\"

China’s First Lady took the FLOTUS on a visit to a primary school in China known as the Banchang Primary School, Beijing. Another Day In Beijing

On their second day after arriving in Beijing, the first-class citizens of the US seemed to be bouncing back and forth in the multiple welcome ceremonies. Trump and Melania attended a reception ceremony which was situated at the Great Hall of the people. After the reception, both First Ladies were eager to leave the men and tour an elementary school (and perhaps share makeup and hair care treatment tips). On the other hand, Trump was preoccupied with less exciting presidential duties such as discussing the bilateral deal between both countries.\",\"

What’s A Visit To China Without Seeing The Great Wall?

But a visit to China – even with the warm welcome and the adorable Gu Gu, could never be complete without seeing The Great Wall of China. So as the activity wound down, the FLOTUS visited the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. We can only hope that those unbeatable skin care products held firmly with the sun being overhead. Shortly after,  the First Lady tweeted ”Unforgettable memories!” under the hashtag #FLOTUSinAsia. Remarkable.
